About Us
My English is simple and I try my best to explain some pages of this blog for our English speaking friends. I won`t ask English experts for help, because I hope that you get used to my English reading this blog. Have fun while you are reading! Yours Gunda
Mattes and me, Gunda, are a couple in the mid forties from the north of Germany.
We both are totally different in some parts of our life, but bicycling in the wild nature is what we have in common and like very much.
We already did many trips with our mountainbikes and traveling bikes in Germany and Europe all seasons round.
We both agree that camping at a lake, river or the seaside is great. We like to wake up in the morning listening the birds singing and the sounds of water running down a river or rippling on a beach.
The first coffee in the morning taste best with a nice view in front of our tent. Late evening hours are great for fishing or watching animals passing by.
Many rivers, forests and the seaside impressed us and we hope that we will have the same good luck during our one year long trip.
Mattes bought a bike of high quality with a rohloff hub first and I got one a year later. We can put a lot of luggage on it and still riding very comfortable. Mattes is able to repair everything what makes is much easier on a long trip.
We were so happy on our bikes that we planned a sabbatical year. Gunda had to save money for three years before we could start and Mattes time to inform his costumers. He is a high specialized welder and loves his work. Gunda is a vocational teacher for dental nurses and enjoys her work, too. But one year off, relaxing from all the different needs the students have will do her good.
We decided for some countries with wild, great nature and a climate we could stand. No extreme heat and no extreme cold. But bad weather conditions like less sunshine and much rain and wind combined with bad road surfaces, long time in search the right place for our tent and a lack of food could make some days or weeks extremely hard. We hope to keep our health, good luck and close relationship to manage every challenge.
We guess that bicycling in Germany is very comfortable with all the nice, well signed cycling paths, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants in nearly every village and no dangerous predatory animals, spiders and snakes. We may feel our physical and psychological limit several times and hope to help each other. We also believe in the friendliness and good character of other people.
Our outdoor equipment is tested, technical help with a tablet and camera will hopefully comment our journey as good as possible.
